Gathering Worship

Worship & Praise: Heritage & Heritage Mass Choir

Opening

1) Worship Leader: Rev. In-Sun Lee (Organizing Committee Chair)

Hallelujah!

We warmly welcome all of you who have gathered here today in response to God’s divine calling.

I am Rev. In-Sun Lee, serving as the Chair of the Organizing Committee for this conference.

One hundred and forty years ago, the spark of the Gospel was first kindled in this land. Today, that flame is being rekindled here once again.

We are witnessing a historic moment as the youth of Korea and Asia join together in worship and are sent forth as witnesses of the Gospel.

Now, as we open this sacred journey, we will hear the Opening Address.

Please welcome with warm applause Presiding Bishop Jung-Seok Kim, the Conference Chair.

2) Opening Address: Presiding Bishop Jung-Seok Kim (Conference Chair)

The Holy Spirit Korea Youth Conference was first held in 2013 to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the conversion of Missionary Robert A. Hardie, marking the beginning of a united movement among young believers. This year, as we celebrate the 140th anniversary of Korean mission, the conference expands into a new horizon of unity with the youth of Asia.

One hundred and forty years ago, missionaries arrived on this land bearing the light of the Gospel. Through education, medical care, human rights, and the message of life, they planted seeds of hope in a despairing Chosun. In 1903, those seeds burst into flame through the conversion of Hardie, sparking a great revival of the Holy Spirit throughout the Korean church.

That flame continues to this day. The earnest prayers and worship of the youth gathered at Jangchung Arena in 2023 once again ignited a spark of spiritual awakening in the hearts of the young generation of the Korean church. In 2025, we seek to see that spark blaze into a mighty fire once more.

Yet the reality we face in 2025 is more complex and challenging than ever. Truth is being relativized, relationships are fractured, and faith is mocked. Many young people, unable to discover the true meaning and calling of life, find themselves in fear and lethargy. In this context, we have chosen the theme of this year’s conference: “Witnesses.”

In Scripture, a witness is not merely someone who recounts what they have seen, but one who reveals the truth and love they have experienced through their entire life. Those who have encountered the grace and love of Jesus Christ cannot conceal the transformation of their lives. Through a personal encounter with Him, we experience comfort and restoration, rise again, and live to proclaim the light of truth. It is our earnest prayer that through this conference, many young people will experience such a deep and personal meeting with Jesus, and that it will become a holy beginning for them to testify to the Gospel and shine His light in the world.

The Korean church continues to face serious challenges. Yet when young people are revived by the life of Jesus, the church will rediscover the light of hope. As we pray and obey together across denominations, regions, and generations, we believe the flame of revival will once again spread through our churches, campuses, military ministries, and mission fields.

We pray that this conference will not remain a one-time gathering, but will be remembered as a milestone for the spiritual renewal and great revival of the young generation of the Korean church. Above all, may the youth called by God in this generation be restored, established, and sent forth as witnesses of the Gospel, standing in the very midst of the powerful work of the Holy Spirit.

3) 10,000 Martyrs Presentation

Now, we will proceed with the “10,000 Martyrs” Presentation.

Through the 10,000 Martyrs Campaign of this conference, each participant has contributed 1,000 KRW, and today a total of 10 million KRW will be presented to World Vision.

By being here today, you have already taken part directly in this mission effort.

At this time, we invite President Myunghwan Cho of World Vision to come forward.

Presiding Bishop Jung-Seok Kim will present the donation on behalf of all participants.

Now, please welcome President Myunghwan Cho of World Vision, who will deliver his words of appreciation, with a warm round of applause.

4) Words of Appreciation: Myunghwan Cho, President of World Vision

5) Opening Blessing

Now we will have the Opening Blessing.

We invite the Bishops of the five Annual Conferences to come forward.

At this time, the Bishops will proclaim God’s blessing upon all the young people and participants gathered here.

This blessing embraces the four themes of this conference: Miracle (Hope), Rise, Together, and Shine.

When the Bishops conclude by declaring, “We bless you,” please respond with a strong “Amen.”

We believe that as you confess in faith, so it will surely be fulfilled.

Now, the Bishops of the five Annual Conferences will bless us in order.

1. Miracle “Realize the Calling”

  • 140 years ago, missionaries came to this land with the Gospel, together with the light of education, medical care, and human rights, planting hope in a despairing Chosun. Now, we are called to inherit that legacy and to shine the light of hope as God’s people in the midst of today’s broken reality.

2) Sermon: Pastor Jongnam Lee (Chusan Church)

① Scripture: Acts 11:19-21

19. Now those who had been scattered by the persecution in connection with Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, telling the message only to Jews.

20. Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus.

21. The Lord's hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.

② Title: Hope Becomes a Miracle

Hello, nice to meet you. I am Pastor Jongnam Lee from Chusan Church, and I am so joyful to be here together at the Korea Holy Spirit Youth Conference with Asia. Because I know how important this gathering is, I have been praying, expecting, and preparing for it for a long time. Whenever I stand in a place like this conference, I hold on to this one thing: I believe that the living God will bring people to life through me, though I am lacking. Shall we greet each other together? God will bring us to life.

When it becomes vacation time or the holiday season, the disciples of faith whom I once guided—those who left their hometowns and now live away from home—come to visit me. With these friends, not only did we worship together, but we also went on overseas and domestic mission trips, where we experienced amazing grace. I believed these young people would live their lives changing the world. I thought they would live as God’s people who bring an extraordinary influence. But most of them say this to me: “Pastor, I’m sorry. I barely manage to attend Sunday service. Pastor, I am not living my life of faith properly.”

As I kept experiencing such things, my heart began to break down. Did I teach something wrong? Is there a problem with me? We had shared in the great works of God that He poured out, and they had clearly made decisions to live as God’s people. Then what went wrong?

Then, I began to read the Bible again. As I was reading the Gospel of John, the words of chapter 6 came alive to me once more.

When we think of John chapter 6, all of us immediately remember the miracle of the five loaves and two fish. But in fact, we must pay closer attention to the verses that follow. Right after that miracle, we see that the great crowd who had experienced the miracle of the five loaves and two fish gathered again the very next day in the same place. But Jesus was not there anymore. By that time, Jesus and His disciples had already gone across to the other side of the lake.

And then Jesus spoke to the crowd who had gathered. In John 6:26, He made clear that these people did not gather because they truly desired to follow Him. They came only to fill another hunger, only hoping for another miracle of the five loaves and two fish.

And what happened to this large crowd in the end? The Bible says in John 6:66, that although they had experienced such a great work, they eventually turned back and no longer followed Him. The Scripture records them simply as “the crowd.” However, though the crowd betrayed and abandoned Jesus, the ones who continued to live following Him to the very end, holding on to the calling to be witnesses, are recorded in the Bible as “disciples.”

In Pastor Kyle Idleman’s book Not a Fan, he divides those who follow Jesus into two groups: fans and disciples.

Both fans and disciples come before Jesus and listen to His words. Both of them equally experience the miracle of the five loaves and two fish in the same place. But from there, depending on how they follow Jesus, they are separated into either fans or disciples.

A fan only tries to get something from Jesus. A fan has no interest in Jesus’ teaching, nor in deep fellowship with Him. They only desire things like the miracle of the five loaves and two fish through Jesus.

I have a son who is now a 24–year–old college student.

When he was in elementary school, he liked the soccer player Messi. For my son, Messi was like the Lord. He wore a Messi uniform every single day when he went to school.

Even though the church was right next door, I never once saw him go there to pray. But I saw him look at Messi’s picture hanging in his room and meditate before he left. For my son, Messi was the Lord.

But when he entered middle school, his spiritual eyes were opened in a new way. He started to like girl idols.

Now, whenever he wanted me to buy him a Messi uniform, he would suddenly become the most filial son. He would massage my shoulders, and he would even massage my feet that had athlete’s foot. But once he got the uniform he wanted, he wouldn’t even look at me.

How have you treated Jesus? When you need the works of the five loaves and two fish in your life, you seek Jesus so eagerly. But once you get what you want, even if Jesus calls you again and again, you do not answer. Are you now living only as part of the crowd who just tries to gain something through Jesus?

Or are you living as a witness, as a disciple—holding on to the grace and the mission Jesus has given you, proclaiming it, and living it out?

While preparing a message one day, I was reading this week’s theme verse, Acts 1:8, and I came to a surprising realization. Although I had seen it, heard it, and even memorized it countless times before, I discovered an amazing secret in this verse. It was the order. Through this word, I came to understand how the expansion of the gospel takes place on this earth. (Acts 1:8) Those who believe in Jesus and are saved first receive the power of the Holy Spirit. And then they are commanded to begin in Jerusalem, move throughout all Judea, then to Samaria, and finally to the ends of the earth, carrying out their mission as witnesses of the gospel.

And the disciples who had received the Holy Spirit carried out this mission of being witnesses. The gospel they preached transformed countless lives, and the gospel continued to spread. But then, the early church faced tremendous persecution. (Acts 11:19) Stephen was martyred, and because of this, many believers were scattered. Yet even as they were scattered, there was one thing they did well: they did not abandon their mission as witnesses. However, here a problem arises. They were preaching only to the Jews. Jesus had clearly commanded that the gospel was to be preached not only to the Jews but also to the Gentiles—to all people. But because of their prejudice against the Gentiles, they shared the gospel only with the Jews. Up to this point, nothing new was happening.

In Daejeon, there is a famous bakery called Seong-00. I really love the fried soboro bread from that bakery. One time, I mentioned to a deaconess that this bread was delicious, and she told her son, who lives in Daejeon, to buy some. So on Sunday, right after the service ended, she came out. I thought she was saying how much she had been blessed by the sermon, but instead, she said, “Yesterday I ate that bread, and it was so delicious!” You only know it when you taste it. But the reason she was able to taste it and know how good it was, was because I had shared with her just how delicious it is.

The gospel of the Lord has brought us to salvation, and although we are living under this amazing grace, if we do not share this grace with anyone and only keep it to ourselves, then it is just like when the gospel was preached only to the Jews— we are limiting the power of the gospel within ourselves. That is why the gospel must be shared through us who first believed. That is when history begins to happen. Finally, the gospel goes beyond the Jews and is preached also to the Gentiles. And we must see what happens at that time.

Acts 11:20—Some of the men from Cyprus and Cyrene went to Antioch and began to speak also to the Greeks, that is, to the Gentiles who were not Jews, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. And what happened then?

Acts 11:21—When the gospel was preached to the Gentiles according to the Lord’s will, the hand of the Lord was with them. And a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord. Friends, the scattered believers were simply obeying the Lord’s command to preach the gospel. And it was in that moment that the hand of the Lord was with them, and they witnessed His mighty works.

We must clearly understand how God brings life. We always want our surroundings to change first, and we want the people around us to be different.

So we complain to God, asking, “Why doesn’t my environment change? Why are the people around me always like this?” But God does not first look at our surroundings—He first fixes His eyes on us. And then He changes us. He calls us and gives us a mission. And when we obey that word and mission at the place of calling, the hand of the Lord is with us, and through us, He accomplishes the work of transforming those around us.

So I took this problem and went into the place of prayer to hear the voice of God. And the voice God spoke to me was this: through this country church, He would reveal that He is the living God. I believed this. And I proclaimed it to the congregation on Sunday: “From now on, this church will be a church that reveals the living God.” And although many things happened afterward, among them, God led us to begin the ministry of bringing the next generation to life.

On weekends, we would bring in girls we met on the streets and have them join us for worship. And we also came to meet children living in the countryside. Most of them were children in need of care. Once, I visited the home of a brother and sister. Their parents had divorced, the father had left, and their grandmother had been raising them. But recently, their grandmother had passed away, leaving the children all alone. So we brought them into our home. And these children became our own sons and daughters. We lived together in the parsonage with these children—some for months, some for years—and during that time, they came to encounter God.

And during worship, the Word began to take root in their hearts. As we prayed together, the grace of the Holy Spirit came upon the children—tongues were released, visions were seen, and amazing things began to happen. God gave them a calling: that through them, the gospel would be witnessed. So we began to gather the nearby churches and the next generation, holding retreats and revival meetings, continuing in the ministry of raising up the next generation. The amazing thing was this: the very same grace that fell on the children in our home also came upon the children who attended the gatherings. When they returned to their schools, they began prayer meetings. In middle schools and high schools, students gathered every day to worship passionately. Some of them even sought out classmates who were isolated or bullied, choosing to sit with them at lunch. And as a result, bullying began to disappear from their schools. (Photo 2)

But as the years went by, those children grew up and became young adults, and then they all moved away to other cities. And in the countryside, no more children were being born. With no children, the elementary school, the middle school, and even the high school all closed down. Then, when COVID came, our church’s next-generation ministry came to a halt. For a while, I was discouraged. I thought, “This was such a precious ministry that God had given to our church—is it going to end here?” But then, when I went to lead a youth revival meeting, God made something very clear to me.

And with that answer, I came back to the church and prayed together with the congregation. We did not do it half-heartedly. We prayed in a 24-hour relay, in the early mornings, and in the evenings. Then something began to happen: the young people who had once left for other places started to return to the countryside. They came back, started farming, found jobs, and little by little their number increased. And then they began to get married. Even though there had been no children in the countryside, children began to be born. (Photo 3) At the beginning of last year, we restarted the children’s worship service with just two kids. And God has continued to send young families to us. Just a few weeks ago, we successfully finished our Vacation Bible School. (Photo 4)

(Photo 5) The title of this artwork is Bull’s Head. It was created by Picasso. He made this piece out of a discarded bicycle seat and handlebars. But the value of this artwork is estimated at about 30 billion won. If we were to take a thrown-away bicycle and try to make something, no one would pay attention. But because it was in Picasso’s hands, what was worthless became something of incredible value. In the same way, though we are weak and lacking, when our lives as witnesses are held in the Lord’s hands, the work of revival continues to happen even now.

The believers in the early church who were scattered because of persecution must have felt as if they had been abandoned. But there was one thing they did not let go of: the gospel of the Lord. And when they obeyed the Lord’s command and proclaimed the gospel, not only to the Jews but also to the Gentiles, just as He had said, a powerful work of the gospel took place with the Lord’s hand upon them.

These days, we hear the word crisis so often—crisis of the church, crisis of the next generation—always followed by negative talk. But in truth, all these voices are simply what the world and people are saying. In this age of crisis, what we must do is listen to what the Lord is speaking to us. When we hold on to that word of response from Him and faithfully carry out our mission as His witnesses, the work of the Lord’s hand continues even now.

Today, in many places, we are witnessing the history of revival come alive again.

As I have traveled to many churches and met with the next generation, I have heard so many heartbreaking stories: the painful situations churches have faced after COVID, the sorrow of seeing the next generation leaving the church in large numbers, and the increasing difficulty of sharing the gospel. But there is something I have clearly seen: the grace of the Lord is still being poured out without change. The same grace that came upon me when I first met the Lord is still being poured out in many places today. And that grace is restoring the next generation and sending them back into the calling of being the Lord’s witnesses. Through these restored witnesses, I have seen with my own eyes how the Lord is still saving countless souls even now.

Today’s gathering must not end here. Through you who have been brought to life, God’s work of bringing others to life must continue. It is not about what we can accomplish. When we take up the calling of being His witnesses, God will use us—who have been made alive—as His channels, and through His hand working with us, lives will be saved. So let us look forward to the mighty works of God that He will do to bring life! Let us expect revival to come—through us, to our local communities, to our nation of Korea, and to the nations of the world.

3) Corporate Prayer

2. Rise “Rise Again”

  •  In the midst of the world’s confusion and difficulties, we reflect deeply on our lost identity and our falls, repenting of our sins and faults.

  • Even in the harsh realities of life, we long for the Lord’s comfort and restoration, and we rise again in faith.

1) Praise: P.I.A. Worship with Korea Holy Spirit 300 Choir

  • Sing along with the English lyrics on the screen.

2) Sermon: Pastor Sanghoon Choi (Hwayang Church)

① Scripture: Ephesians 4:22–24

22. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;

23. to be made new in the attitude of your minds;

24. and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

② Title: Spread the DNA of the New Self

When Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His people a most important command: “You will be My witnesses.” This final word of Jesus carries the weight of a last testament, and it is given to all who belong to Him. To be a true witness, we must be equipped with strength, and that strength is revealed through the Word of God.

The life of a witness flows from prayer, where we walk in fellowship with God, from the identity that God Himself has defined for us, and from a holy longing that sets our hearts apart for Him. These are not things we must create on our own, but they are already within us because God has given us the new self in Christ. We have already put on this new self, yet we are also called to continue to grow in sanctification, clothing ourselves with it day by day until the Lord returns.

When our lives are aligned with the Word in this way, we will surely see the amazing works of God revealed among us.

a. Prayer Does Not Disappear

Prayer is fellowship with the Lord. I was born as the son of a country pastor and grew up in poverty. My mother was bedridden with sickness, and our family was so poor that sometimes we could not even prepare proper meals. In such hardship, my parents could not raise all three sons together, and finally they decided to entrust one of us to another family. So I was sent away, and for four years I lived in the home of a church elder, away from my parents. Only after that time was I able to return.

When I came back home, a new rhythm began in my life. Moving between school, church, and home, I began to build up daily prayer. At first I prayed for an hour a day, then two hours, then three, and later even more.

As time went by, I came to realize the lasting importance of prayer through one unforgettable event. One day, our whole family had gone to Nonsan Training Center and was driving back together. At a certain moment, under a strong prompting of God, I stepped out of the car and decided to return to Seoul alone by public transportation. Later, I heard that there had been a serious car accident on that same road—so severe that it appeared in the news. Had I not stepped out of that car, had I been sitting in the passenger seat, I might not have survived at all. That day the Lord reminded me of the image of myself praying as a child, and He gave me this conviction in my heart: “I will not forget your prayer. Your prayer will not disappear.”

There is a clear difference between “doing the Lord’s work” and “walking in fellowship with the Lord.” Sufficient prayer brings forth sufficient works of God. I call this the principle of fullness. The disciples of Jesus followed Him wherever He went—into the wilderness, across the sea, even toward His death. Yet where did they stumble? They stumbled at prayer. In Gethsemane, even when Jesus pleaded, “Watch and pray for Me,” they fell asleep. Why? Because the enemy never leaves those who pray alone.

b. We Must Know the Identity God Has Given Us

There is a great difference between praying with the knowledge of who we are and praying without it. Who are we? The Bible says, “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). The word “image” here comes from the Hebrew word tselem, which carries the meaning of God’s very nature, His character, His authority, and His power. Just as children inherit the DNA of their parents and resemble them, we were created to resemble God. That means the DNA of God already resides within us.

From the very beginning, God placed His image within us. When we pray with the awareness that God’s image and His DNA are in us, we will experience remarkable change and growth. We will come to enjoy the good plans, visions, and blessings that God has prepared for us. Scripture reminds us that we have already put on the new self, yet it also commands us to keep putting on the new self: “Put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:24).

If we are still living however we please—doing whatever we want, spending our time only as we desire, following our own patterns, styles, and judgments—then today we must remember the identity of the new self that God has given us. We must guard our eyes and ears from the things of the world. God does not want us to be conformed to the culture of this age.

We must hold firmly, not to the identity that the world tries to define for us, but to the identity God has spoken over us. God does not define us by our résumé, by our abilities, or by how we appear today. Instead, He declares, “You are the light of the world. You are the salt of the earth.” This is the identity we must claim as our own: “I am the light. I am the salt.” Hold tightly to the identity of being children of God, and the bride of Christ.

C. We Must Move Forward with a Longing for Holiness

God calls us to long for holiness. Let me ask you: throughout your life, what have you truly given to the Lord? Do you carry within your heart a longing for holiness, a longing to live as His child, a longing to give yourself in full devotion? There is nothing excessive in what we offer to God. When we remember the six hours of suffering upon the cross, the scourging, the shame, and the rejection that Jesus endured for us, we realize that nothing we give back to Him can ever be too much. He gave everything. What, then, are we offering to Him? And whose life are we really living now?

We are the bride of Christ. Yet whom are we truly looking to as we live each day? We are children of God. But have we ever shown Him true honor as our Father? God looks at us and sees His own image. He has already defined us as His holy children, saying, “Be holy, because I am holy.” Still, we must ask: are we truly living as holy ones, or have we allowed ourselves to blend into a world of sin?

When you begin the day, have you told the Lord you love Him? How many times a day do you pause to walk in fellowship with Him? Stop for a moment and reflect: is this really the life of a child of God? If we are living carelessly, hoping to meet the Lord in that state, if we are still conforming to Babylon and its culture, then stop. Do not go further down that road. Respond instead as His set-apart children. Do not spend your time only pointing out what the church does not give you. Rather, come before the Lord with joy, knowing that whatever you give and give again is never wasted. Come with unending gratitude and with an unquenchable longing for Him.

What is on your bucket list? Is there a bucket list for the Lord? Let us rise again with a heart that longs for Him. To live as a witness of Jesus is to live clothed in the new self that God has given us. And in the fleeting days of our youth, should we not dare to attempt this? Should we not take this holy risk, to give our all for Him? Let us no longer be shaped by the culture of the world, but let us stand as the pure bride of Christ, ready to meet Him, a generation set apart in holiness.

3) Corporate Prayer

3. Together “Walk with the Holy Spirit”

  • Having been cleansed through repentance, we now begin a new life walking with the Holy Spirit.

  • Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our daily lives are filled with good influence.

  • In this way, we live in the world as witnesses who reveal the power of the gospel.

② “Jesus Freak – Be Gone”

Verse 1

I’m a Jesus freak, I don’t care

Even if people point their fingers at me

I’m not ashamed, I’m not afraid

This is my true identity

For God so loved the world

That He gave His only Son

Whoever believes in Him

Shall not perish but have eternal life

Eternal life, eternal life, all will be saved

Chorus

Be gone, be gone — completely cast away!

Be gone, be gone — completely cast away!

Verse 2

These are the signs that follow the disciples of Jesus:

In His name they cast out demons

They will speak in new tongues

Pick up serpents, drink deadly poison — we don’t care!

They will lay hands on the sick and they will recover

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved

But whoever does not believe will be condemned

He said: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation!”

Chorus

Be gone, be gone — completely cast away!

Be gone, be gone — completely cast away!

Verse 3

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me

Go and make disciples of all nations

Baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age

In this world you will have trouble

But take heart, take heart

Be bold, be bold

I have overcome the world!

Chorus

Be gone, be gone — completely cast away!

Be gone, be gone — completely cast away!

Bridge – Breaking of Chains

The spirit of pride — be bound and cast away!

Be gone, be gone, completely cast away!

The spirit of lust — be bound and cast away!

Be gone, be gone, completely cast away!

The spirit of religion — be bound and cast away!

Be gone, be gone, completely cast away!

The spirit of death — be bound and cast away!

Be gone, be gone, completely cast away!

Verse 4 – Not by Knowledge but by the Spirit

Head knowledge alone cannot know Jesus

Until you receive the Holy Spirit who sets your heart on fire

Throw away the empty things you once knew

Be filled with the heart of the Lord

Now is the time to preach the gospel!

Head knowledge alone cannot know Jesus

Until you receive the Holy Spirit who sets your heart on fire

Throw away the empty things you once knew

Be filled with the heart of the Lord

Now is the time to preach the gospel!

Bridge – Repentance & Cleansing

Repent, repent — turn back and repent!

He gives me the freedom of choice

Whiter, whiter — whiter than snow

Washed, washed by the blood of the Lamb

Repent, repent — turn back and repent!

He gives me the freedom of choice

Whiter, whiter — whiter than snow

Washed, washed by the blood of the Lamb

Bridge – The Blood of Jesus

The blood (blood!) — power in the blood!

The blood of Jesus (the blood of Jesus!)

I believe! (I believe!)

The blood (blood!) — power in the blood!

The blood of Jesus (the blood of Jesus!)

I believe! (I believe!)

The blood (blood!) — precious blood of the Lamb

So priceless, so powerful, forevermore!

Outro – Declaration of Identity

I’m a Jesus freak, I don’t care

Even if people point their fingers at me

I’m not ashamed, I’m not afraid

This is my true identity!

③ Refuge

Verse 1

I am the Way

and the Truth

and the Life

Jesus, Jesus — to the Light, yo!

Resting place, He is our Refuge

When we gather, we break the bread

In our lives, the fruit of the Spirit is revealed

When we gather, we break the bread

In our lives, the fruit of the Spirit is revealed

Chorus – Fruit of the Spirit

But the fruit of the Spirit is love and joy,

Peace and patience, kindness too,

Goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self–control —

Against such things there is no law.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love and joy,

Peace and patience, kindness too,

Goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self–control —

Against such things there is no law.

In Christ Jesus

The peace of God

Will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus

Do not be anxious about anything

But in every situation, by prayer and petition

With thanksgiving present your requests to God

And then you will see! (And then you will see!)

2) Testimony: Actor Hyunjun Shin

- Now, we will hear a testimony from Actor Hyun-Jun Shin. Although there is no English script available, we invite you to open your hearts in prayer and join us in the Spirit as you listen.

3) Sermon: Pastor Sang-Jun Lee (1516 Church)

I bless you to hear the voice of God as you listen to today’s message! The world tells us to prove ourselves—through ability, education, or skill. But Christians do not live a life of self–proof. We live a life of testifying to Jesus. Through us, we reveal Jesus, who is life and power. We are created in the image of God. God is our Father, Christ is our Savior, and the Holy Spirit is our Guide. Sheep hear the shepherd’s voice, and children hear their father’s voice. So I ask you—are you hearing the voice of God? And how? Our God is a God who speaks! God the Father created the heavens and the earth by His Word. God the Son, the Word, became flesh and came as our Savior. Now, for us His children, the Holy Spirit has come and given us a new language.

But are we really hearing God’s voice? If a child cannot hear a father’s voice, it means he has forgotten his mother tongue of the soul. When you hear a foreign language, it just sounds like “blah, blah, blah.” For many, the Bible becomes nothing more than a sleeping pill on sleepless nights, and during sermons, drowsiness overtakes them. But the Father’s Word is not a foreign language—it is the native language of our souls! So how do we hear it? Not through isolated mystical experiences, but until the Word of God overflows within us.

I grew up in church as a “born Christian,” yet I could not hear God’s voice. In middle school, I fell into deep depression and even suicidal thoughts. But it was God’s Word that saved me. At a youth retreat in 9th grade, my pastor gave me a Bible and told me to read it within six months. But the Bible was not easy. I had no one to ask, so I prayed. Then one day, as I read Matthew 23:10—“You have one Teacher, the Christ”—the Holy Spirit spoke to me: “From today, I will be your Teacher.” From then on, I read the Bible 1–2 hours daily and prayed at night in the sanctuary. God began to answer me directly—not only in prayer, but in daily life. The written Word of God became His living voice.

My mother was a woman who walked in deep intimacy with God. She spoke with Him all day long—about what would happen that day, about the presidential election, even about ICU patients. A year before I entered university, God even revealed to her which university, which department, and with what score I would enter. He knew even my unspoken thoughts and emotions. So I prayed, “The God of my mother, please be my God.” Up until then, most of our lives—exams, admissions, jobs, marriage—had been covered by our parents’ prayers. But some adults still outsource prayer even after becoming grown. Now it is our time to pray—for ourselves, for our generation, for the future.

Acts 16:6–7 records Paul’s second missionary journey. He wanted to evangelize and do missions, but the Holy Spirit did not allow him. Even when the vision comes from God, He desires that it be done in His time and His way. May you experience His presence intimately in your daily life!

I served as a pastor at Onnuri Church for 25 years before planting a church two years ago. Over those years, I moved to many ministries. Each time, before decisions, God always made His will clear. Originally, I had prepared to go as a Bible translation missionary, but the church appointed me to Next Generation ministry. I prayed at a retreat: “Lord, send me out as a missionary!” God replied, “The next generation is also a cross–cultural mission field. Preach the gospel there.” For two years I served in Next Generation ministry, and I realized—this was truly a mission field. But whenever I tried to go to the retreat to pray about going overseas, my wife fell ill and I could not go.

One morning, I had a dream of Pastor Ha Yong-jo. He told me three things he liked about me, and that I must remain. That very morning, my senior pastor called me and said, “Pastor Ha Yong-jo mentioned you at breakfast today. He said three good things and that you must stay.” So I laid everything down and stayed, beginning dawn prayer and youth ministry.

The next year, I went to Vancouver Onnuri Church. Vancouver is one of the world’s most livable cities—great environment and welfare. But despite two Great Awakenings in North America, this city never caught fire. Churches would rise, then collapse. No spiritual expectation remained. So I prayed, “God, bring revival to this city!” I even prayed, “Next year, let 3,000 people gather here to worship You!” People thought I was crazy. Even 1,000 for a united meeting was unthinkable. But the Spirit moved. Out of 150 churches, 145 joined. In the end, 3,000 gathered with tears to worship God. This was not about my success. As Matthew 6:33 says: “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

In my fourth year in Vancouver, I rebuked the youth harshly during a Sunday service. Then the Spirit said, “If you don’t love them, you cannot rebuke them.” So I repented and prayed. As 1 Corinthians 4:15 says, “Though you have many guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.” So I began to personally disciple the youth leaders at night. They stayed even until dawn.

The next year, headquarters called me back to lead the University–Young Adult Ministry. Then I realized—God had known in advance and had been preparing me. John 7:17 says, “If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.” Do you really seek God’s will? Or your own glory? If you truly seek His will, the Spirit will reveal it. That is how we live as Jesus’ witnesses. Acts 1:8—“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses…”

After 25 years at Onnuri Church, with deep concern for the decline of the Korean church, I planted a new church three years ago. It is a unique church: The name is a number: 1516 Church. Acts 15:16—“After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it.” Paperless Church. No bulletins, no offering envelopes. Church–planting Movement. Following Pastor Lee Jae-hoon’s vision of planting 300 churches.

Though Seoul already has many good churches, God led us to plant in Bundang—as a mission base, like an Antioch for the nation. At first, we had no place to meet. We began with about 100 people in a rooftop room on January 1. But God kept sending worshipers, and we moved five times in nine months. Each service, the Spirit’s presence brought amazing grace—marriages restored, wandering children returning.

These days, I meet atheist teens and young adults, and I see them lay down atheism and begin to know God. When we testify that God is alive, the Spirit moves with power.

4) Corporate Prayer

※ United Prayer

1) Prayer (1) – Dreams and Visions of Young People

Pastor Yoonjun Park (Local Church)

Let us continue to pray together for the lives and hopes of our young people. God knows our hearts and hears our prayers. There are longings lifted up from burdens of study, the weight of finding jobs, uncertain futures, and shaken relationships. Lord, fulfill these prayers in Your goodness. Yet may it not end there—help us hold on to the greater hope You have given us: the calling to live as witnesses of the gospel. May our small dreams be held in Your hands and become lives of witnesses who plant hope in the world.

Let us all call upon the Lord three times together and pray: “Lord! Lord! Lord!”

(Corporate Prayer)

Prayer (2) – Church, Campus, Military, Workplace

Staff Yoonsu Kang (Campus ministry/CCC)

Let us continue to pray for our churches, campuses, military units, and workplaces. Lord, may every place where our young people stand become a field that testifies to the gospel. Give them boldness to confess their faith in Jesus, and let them not be ashamed of the gospel in the world. May they live as salt and light, and let even the smallest choices and actions become testimonies that reveal Jesus. Through their words and actions, may Christ be made known, and may they stand firmly as Your witnesses wherever they are.

Let us all call upon the Lord three times together and pray: “Lord! Lord! Lord!”

(Corporate Prayer)

Prayer (3) – Nation, People, and the Nations of the World

Pastor Johan Yoo (Military Church)

Finally, let us pray for our nation, our people, and the nations of the world. Lord, have mercy on this land. Let Your love flow into every place of division and wounding. Let the light of the gospel shine even into the closed land of North Korea, that locked doors may open and the North and South may be united in the gospel.

This year marks the 140th anniversary of the Korean mission. We remember the faith of the missionaries who sowed seeds with tears and sacrifice. Now let the youth generation of Korea and Asia rise up—not as the generation that once received missions, but as the generation that now sends missionaries.

Use the young people gathered here today. Establish them as witnesses who awaken this age and as a generation sent out to the nations. Hold them firmly as Your witnesses to the ends of the earth.

Let us all call upon the Lord three times together and pray: “Lord! Lord! Lord!”

(Corporate Prayer)

4. Shine – “Go Forth as the Light of the World”

  • In obedience to the Lord’s calling, we go forth to the nations carrying the light of the Gospel.

  • Asian youth, once the generation that received missions, now rise together as the generation that carries out missions.

1) Calling: Rev. Han-Kwon Kim (Saeron Church / Executive Chair)

① Scripture: 1 Samuel 17:39–49

39. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. "I cannot go in these," he said to Saul, "because I am not used to them." So he took them off.

40. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

41. Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David.

42. He looked David over and saw that he was only a boy, ruddy and handsome, and he despised him.

43. He said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?" And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

44. "Come here," he said, "and I'll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!"

45. David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

46. This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.

47. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."

48. As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.

49. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.

② Title: The David Syndrome

Brothers and sisters, today I want to share a message titled “The David Syndrome.” Just as a syndrome spreads and influences people, David’s victory over Goliath shook not only Israel but also the Philistines. His faith and courage created a ripple effect that still speaks to us today.

For forty days, the entire army of Israel trembled before Goliath. The soldiers avoided the challenge, paralyzed by fear. Every morning and every evening, Goliath came out and mocked them, and still no one moved. But one young shepherd boy, David, could not remain silent when the name of the living God was mocked. This is where the David Syndrome begins.

David was not driven by reward, not by honor, not by the approval of people. His motivation was simple yet profound: zeal for the name of the Lord. That passion gave him courage to step forward when others stepped back. While others calculated the risks, David trusted in God’s name. While others saw a giant, David saw an opportunity for God’s glory.

King Saul tried to stop him. His brothers tried to silence him. Even his father had wanted him to stay behind with the sheep. Yet God did not stop him. When God plants conviction in a heart, even the voices closest to us cannot silence it. The David Syndrome is the courage to follow God’s conviction even when everyone else says, “Don’t.”

Notice the contrast. Goliath stood fully armed—helmet, coat of bronze, javelin, spear, and a shield-bearer walking before him. He was intimidating in every way. David, however, carried only a shepherd’s staff, a sling, and five smooth stones. To human eyes, it looked like weakness. To the Philistines, it looked like foolishness. But to God, it was more than enough.

The Bible tells us Goliath despised David for coming with a stick. God allowed Goliath to underestimate David so that his guard would drop, and even the shield-bearer would step aside. Goliath mocked, but David declared, “I come to you in the name of the Lord Almighty.” And at that moment, David ran quickly toward him, released the stone, and struck Goliath on the forehead. The giant fell face down.

This was not just the skill of David’s sling. This was the intervention of God. God guided that stone. God gave victory to His name. The weak became strong. The small overcame the mighty.

And notice what David used. God did not use a sword or a spear. God did not give him something new. He used what David already had in his hands—his shepherd’s staff and his sling. The ordinary tools of his daily life became instruments of extraordinary victory.

This is the David Syndrome: when one person burns with passion for God’s name, that faith becomes contagious. It inspires courage in others. It shows the world that God is alive. It brings glory to His name.

So let me ask you: What is in your hand? What has God already placed in your life—your gifts, your skills, your time, your opportunities? Like David, offer them for the sake of His name. Don’t wait until you think you are ready. Don’t wait until you feel strong. God uses ordinary people and ordinary things to accomplish extraordinary purposes.

The David Syndrome teaches us this: one person’s faith can change the atmosphere. One person’s courage can spread to a whole community. One person’s obedience can bring glory to God among the nations.

Today, brothers and sisters, let us rise with the David Syndrome. Let us not be silent when God’s name is mocked. Let us not be paralyzed by fear when giants stand before us. Let us live with courage, not for ourselves, but for the glory of the living God. And may our faith, like David’s, become contagious—shaking nations and inspiring generations to trust in the power of the Lord.
